Windrush Farm is a 45 acre family farm near Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow, comprising of arable farmland and a variety of natural habitats intentionally set aside for biodiversity and carbon sequestration. We use regenerative agricultural methods, and on our arable land we produce Connemara ponies and have a fibre-only flock of pedigree rare breed Zwartbles sheep. We also grow sustainable crops such as willow.
Enhancing and maintaining biodiversity and the local environment underpin all of our practices on the farm. Our ‘wild’ land, which includes 11 acres of unique wetland and a bog pond is home to hundreds of native species of plants, trees, animals and birds. Deer, foxes, rabbits, bats, shrews, stoats, birds of prey and a large variety of songbirds are among the many creatures that call Windrush Farm home, along with three generations of the Nicol family, who have resided at the farm for over 20 years.
