IMMA is Ireland’s National Cultural Institution for Modern and Contemporary Art. Our diverse and ambitious programme comprises exhibitions, commissions and projects by leading Irish and international artists, as well as a rich engagement and learning programme which together provides audiences of all ages the opportunity to connect with contemporary art and unlock their creativity.
IMMA is home to the National Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art, started in 1990 and now numbering over 3,500 artworks by Irish and international artists. We make this national resource available through exhibitions at IMMA and other venues nationally and internationally, engagement and learning programmes and digital resources.
We are situated in our home at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, one of Ireland’s most historic sites.

The IMMA site and grounds are fully accessible for visitors with lifts in every building. Adapted toilets and baby changing facilities are available for visitors in the Main Building and at other points throughout the campus.
IMMA has ample (paid) parking, extensive gardens and grounds, to enjoy during your visit. Visit Camerino Bakery café, the is both an outdoor cafe located in the Courtyard and an indoor cafe in the IMMA vaults. The IMMA Shop is located on the first floor and is open Museum hours.
There is free wifi in the main building, just look for the ‘Virgin’ network. The first time you access the network with a new device you will be asked to register (don’t worry, we won’t send you promotional emails unless you want us to) for 30mins of free wifi access. This time-period can be renewed without needing to re-register.
CCTV: We would like to make our visitors aware that CCTV is in operation at IMMA at all times. Any enquiries regarding this should be sent to the Data Controller, IMMA, Military Road, D08 FW31.
