The Stables Bar was established on the 12th December 1972 and was founded by James and Mary Smyth and Sean and Ann McGeown.
It was built in the Townland of Taghnaven, close to Lurgan town centre, on the grounds of an original hitching post (changing horses on carriages). Because of this history it was named The Stables Bar.
