The Old Barracks Restaurant, Guesthouse & Bakery is situated at Cross Street, Athenry. The Restaurant is owned by Fiona King, but was developed by her late husband Cathal O’Malley. The business began in October 2010, although the Barracks building itself has been owned by Fiona’s family since 1988, when it was purchased by Fiona’s parents, Charlie and Mary King of Bawnmore, Athenry with the winnings from that years Galway Plate, which was won by their horse “Afford A King”. The Barracks its self was originally an RIC barracks and later taken on by the FCA.

The Restaurant has won many awards since its opening in 2010 and is listed with Georgina Campbell & McKenna food guides.

The Old Barracks serve a wide range of food, from Tasty Breakfast to Seasonal Salads, Excellent Burgers & Scrumptious Sandwiches for lunch. The night menu includes Steaks and Fabulous Seafood.  Our award winning Bakery has a varied array of Sweet Desserts  which are available all day. Sundays the restaurant opens for a wide selection of Breakfast Options & later in the day offer a Hearty Roast Style Dinner. Children’s menus are available.

  • Friday & Saturday: 8.30am – 7pm
  • Sunday & Bank Holidays: 8.30am – 6pm
