Every August in the charming town of Killorglin, County Kerry, something wildly wonderful happens — a goat becomes king. Yes, you read that right. A real goat. With a crown. Welcome to Puck Fair, one of Ireland’s oldest (and quirkiest) festivals, and trust us — you’ll never forget it.
So… what is Puck Fair?
Legend has it that a mountain goat once warned the townspeople of an approaching invasion, earning eternal respect and a rather bizarre honour: a three-day celebration in his name. Fast forward to 2025, and the tradition lives on in the most delightfully chaotic way possible.
From August 10th – 12th, Killorglin transforms into a party-town filled with:
Live music and street performers
Pop-up pubs and food stalls
Carnival rides and vintage fairground magic
And yes — a goat is crowned “King Puck” and paraded around like royalty
Why you should go:
- A family event with something for everyone!
- There’s something for everyone — from trad sessions to fire-breathers.
- It’s a perfect blend of ancient folklore and modern Irish craic.
- Locals are legends, and you’ll feel right at home within five minutes.
Pro Tips:
- Book early — accommodations fill fast!
- Wear comfy shoes (you’ll be dancing in the street)
- Embrace the madness. Seriously. Go all in.
Mark your calendar: Puck Fair 2025 – August 10th – 12th. Come for the goat, stay for the memories.
